Foundation Base Importance and Options
It is essential that our garden buildings are assembled on a firm and level base, constructed from an appropriate, durable material.
Without the correct base, buildings can be very difficult to assemble. This may lead to the future deterioration of the product — such as doors dropping out of alignment and becoming difficult to operate, or the source of water leakage.
Assembling a garden building on an incorrect base is also likely to invalidate any guarantee that your product may carry. See the options we recommend.
Option 1. Steel floor frame (Optional)
Quality Steel Sheds offer a range of sturdy steel floor frames to suit our range of metal sheds, storage lockers, and log stores. Suitable for all types of flooring such as wood planks, OSB sheeting, Aluminium check plate etc. (not included)
Made from structural grade galvanised steel, these floor frames provide a solid base for your shed floor.
Option 2. Steel Base.
A steel base can be supplied when access is limited and concrete bases cannot be poured. These raised steel framed floors are an ideal way to ensure your equipment stays secure and dry in your garden shed. These shed floors have a waterproof OSB board attached to a galvanised steel frame and can be placed on any type of surface. This reduces the expensive costs associated with excavator work and concrete.
Option 3. Concrete Base.
Pour a concrete base where the shed will be assembled and ensure base is dry before building your shed.
Option 4. Paving slabs
In most cases, laying our paving slaps as a base will suffice for most sheds. We recommend had a layer of fabric over the slabs which will prevent any weeds or grass from growing.
Do I need planning permission?
No, structures under 25 meters square do not require planning permission.
